Are Seasonal Mini Photoshoots worth it?
Many family photographers will often offer seasonal or mini photoshoots during the year often to coincide with national holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. They may also offer mini photoshoots when the seasons change to make the most of local, natural beauty spots.
A mini photoshoot is a great way to keep your family album up to date and capturing your little one a different times of year, throughout the year if you choose to do more than one.
Doing a mini photoshoot is a good way to work with a photographer for the first time to see how they run their photoshoots and their photography style before doing a full photoshoot with them. Many customers often go on to have full photoshoots with their photographer or have multiple mini shoots, sometimes turning it into a yearly tradition.
By coinciding a mini photoshoot with a special event such as Christmas, Mother’s day or Father’s day makes it a lasting memory for everyone to enjoy, make for lovely gifts and can become an annual tradition to follow as your little ones and family grows.
One family, three Mini photoshoots - mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Christmas.
As a family photographer who offers mini seasonal photoshoots you will often find me doing these at local baby and toddler groups. This enables parents to capture those photos in a familiar setting whilst also enjoying that weeks session - two things ticked off the to do list in one go. You get the benefit of a studio feel photoshoot, local to home, whilst not having to use your home or go out the way to get there. I am always looking for ways to keep things as simple as possible for the parents.
Doing mini photoshoot in this way is also great promotion for me too. Someone may not decide to have a mini photoshoot that day but take a flyer away with them and contact me at a later date for a full photoshoot. It’s also great networking and collaborating opportunity for me with the group facilitator or business owner too.
There are a few points to bear in mind when thinking about doing a mini photoshoot with your little one -
They are for a much shorter time then a standard full photoshoot, usually between 10-20 minutes therefore your little one needs to be as on board with the idea as possible to get the smiles, cuteness and cheekiness captured.
There will likely only be a small number of photos included in your package (often around 3-5) but with the option to buy more
Depending on the venue and the way the session has been ordganised there may or may not be time for a redo should little one be a bit unsure at first
You may or may not have a choice on the backdrop and photoshoot style set up
It can be a quicker and a little cheaper way of getting professional, up to date photos of your little one
The photos make for great gifts!
You can never go wrong in getting photos of your little ones. They grow and change so much, so fast you won’t regret capturing them at that time and having those photos to look back on forever.
