Newborn Photoshoot outfit Ideas
As a parent of a newborn baby you will probably find yourself with a wardrobe full of clothes and an abundance of outfit choices. But what to pick for your newborn photoshoot?
They are only this little once and your newborn photoshoot is the time to capture their size, features and tiny details to freeze in time forever. Your newborn photos will take pride of place on your wall, be found in your family album, shared with friends and family so let’s discuss outfit options to help you get the photos you have imagined.
a simple vest or baby grow is quintessentially newborn and what I first picture when thinking of newborn outfits. They are cosy, simple in design and neutral in colour making them a good photoshoot option as they also show babies size nicely
They may only be newborn but chances are you will have a special or sentimental outfit that perhaps you bought or were given which is a memory you never want to forget making this a great outfit option for your newborn photoshoot
Do you have a personalised top or jumper that you would like to choose?
If you’re including siblings do they have matching or coordinating outfits that you would like to include?
Quick points to think of when picking your outfit;
Make sure it is going to be comfortable and cosy for your baby as this will help keep baby relaxed and content during their newborn photoshoot
Is baby able to move and wiggle in it
Can you see or easily access their tiny fingers and tiny toes as this is a shot all newborn photographers will be looking to capture
Avoid patterns that are too busy or distracting as you don’t want your attention to be overly drawn to this when viewing your newborn photos
Remember to coordinate your outfit with baby for those family photos - try and choose outfits within the same colour palette
Whites, creams and pastels give a lovely clean, simple, timeless look
Babies don’t always appreciate your outfit choices and nappy leaks can happen so always have one or two backup choices to hand!
Outfit changes - yes or no?
Outfits changes are possible and entirely your choice but it is best to keep them to a minimum to help keep baby calm and cosy as many babies don’t like to feel cold or fussed and may need to resettle after an outfit change.
For me I will always go with simplicity being best keeping all the focus on the newborn cuteness and happy smiling faces of you and your family.
